Special Session on “Web and Social Media” ICETCI 2021

Scope

The special session is organized around the common theme of analyzing human social behavior on web and online social media. The focus will be answering the important and challenging question on human social behavior using the vast amount of data available on web and social media platforms. The special session will be a forum for interdisciplinary researchers and practitioners from diverse fields such as social sciences, economics and computer science. Submissions are encouraged on computational approaches to social media research including natural language processing, data mining, text mining, and network science.

The scope of this special session covers the following topics but not limited to these topics:

  • Credibility of online content including fake news detection

  • Social media usage on mobile devices; impact on wireless communication
  • Herd behavior in social media

Paper Submission:

Potential authors may submit their manuscripts for presentation consideration through ICETCI 2021 submission system electronically at https://cmswebonline.com/icetci2021, following the conference guidelines. Dr. Anup Aprem, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering,
National Institute of Technology Calicut

Dr. Anup Aprem is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Calicut. Prior to that he was a post-doctoral research associate and Emirates-Oxford data science fellow at the University of Oxford, where he worked on multi-agent systems and control using partial observations. He holds a Ph.D from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada where he worked on learning and decision making in online social media. He has worked on non-parameteric prediction of real world phenomenon from online search data, advertisement scheduling in live online social media, and YouTube video popularity analysis. He also holds a Masters in Signal Processing from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
