Special Session on
“Materials Design using Computational Intelligence”

Aims and Scope:

The problem of designing materials computationally is no different from other engineering design issues. The modeling of the materials properties or other attributes, followed by simulation using the models, leading to optimization, to search the opportunities. Materials modeling can be from the inherent science of the system, and can be in different length scales. The approach of developing mathematical correlation between the variables using data is effective for complex materials systems. The advent of computational intelligence (CI) techniques have become an integrated part of materials modeling and optimization domain.

This special session will provide a platform the researchers in this emerging field of materials design to share their experiences with the others in the field.

The scope of this special session includes applications of computational intelligence techniques for the modelling, optimization and design of

  • Steel and other alloys
  • Polymers and composites
  • Ceramics
  • Semiconductors and other functional materials
  • Nanomaterials
  • Biomaterials
  • Manufacturing processes
  • Ironmaking and Steelmaking
